What We're Working On Now:

The Mysteries and Madness of Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allan Poe is considered by most in the literary world to be the father of the modern detective story.
In 1841,  Poe published the first modern detective story-"The Murders in the Rue Morgue." Many writers have since followed this model:  a seemingly impossible crime,  a detective who analyzes the clues in order to solve the mystery, a slightly less intelligent partner who, in narrating the story, shows the reader how intelligent the detective is.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, of Sherlock Holmes fame, once wrote, "Where was the detective story before Poe breathed the breath of life into it?"
